Your eyes are bright today
Bright enough for me to see them
Looking at me the way I always imagine they would
Until they fade into thoughts of
Unicorns, metal bands, tea shops, and other cool stuff

I wish there was a picture of you
Decked out in gloves, tie-dye jacket and band t-shirt
Hair spiked to the sky
Holding a plate of cookies and a carton of ice cream
That's what you really are to me

I wonder how we would officially meet
What mood I would be in
Because depending on my mood
I could be as shy as a ghost that doesn't haunt its own house
Or I would just pounce on you
Holy crap would that last one be fun
Or at least fun to tell about later

Man, do you empty my pockets
I know I've used at least fifty dollars just because

Were on my mind at the time
That doesn't count all the times I eat out
Pretending you're sitting next to me
Or across from me
Or coming up behind me to surprise me
Just to make me yelp
Anyway….that probably adds up to a few hundred
For me that really is a lot

It's funny
I probably think of you more when I eat
A burger and fries
Than when I eat a stick of celery or yogurt
At the same time
I think of you when I go running
Or boxing imaginary jerks in the face
Even sillier
I think of you when I listen to the softer songs
Rather than the harder ones I know you'd appreciate more

Making me feel like such a kid
In so many different ways, a kid
Giddy and happy sometimes
Other times, more like the naïve innocent child that knows no pain
And I simply wonder what your world is like

I have a really awkward world
I hope that's okay, because if I want you in it
You better like at least something
Not to sound forceful or anything….ha ha, ha

I'm homey, I know I am
Compared to so many others, I don't see too much action
That may be a let down, but
I would love to hear your stories
Your eyes bid me hither with the stories swirling beneath them

Your voice would probably mesmerize me for hours
It would be nice
If you just held me and talked softly
And I could peacefully fall asleep to the sound of that voice
Clear and concise but so mellowing
Like swimming in a warm ocean, I think

And don't get me wrong, looks aren't the most important thing
But I'm sure, no matter what
I would keep a picture of you shirtless somewhere
And I would look at it
And just think

Your face, just so I could kiss it

So, dancing is an issue
With my luck, you probably don't dance too well
It's not like I'm a master or anything, but
I'm pretty into it
No worries, though
I would cherish any moment where you took the courtesy
To dance with me
I would know that you meant it

You would just get my sarcasm
Even if you didn't think it was funny, still
It would just click with you
Even better, I think
You would just feed it, like feeding a monster
We would come up with so many great jokes together

See, with you, I would feel young
Not like the little kid feeling
I would feel free to be the wild me, to let go of cares and worries
Like your hands would help mine let free a balloon
Float everything away
Until the energy is dispersed into the good things we do

You would be my desert sun and my winter moon
The blossoming tree of spring
And the cleansing of fall

And some day the night sky won't look so empty
And my eyes won't squint so much in the sunlight
Or rain won't soil the scents in the air
And you could warm my nose when snow nibbled upon it


But mostly, all of this simply means that
I have a lot of love
And a great imagination
But the reality has not yet combined the two
Because I miss the third element
